Training

Learning basic techniques is only the beginning.  How to apply the technique with continuing positive reinforcement will create the optimum result for both dog and handler.
We have a comprehensive training program based on multiple skill levels.
To have a fully trained service animal it takes several years of hard work and dedication.

Here are the basics:
Puppy Kindergarten
This class designed to initiate the basics for your puppy (and you).
  In 4 weeks you will be instructed and become familiar on:
*  Crate Training
*  Socialization
*  Psychology
*  Potty Training
*  Positive Reinforcement
*  Leash Training
*  Grooming
   4 weeks

Basic Obedience
In basic obedience you and your dog will learn how to train each other.
Through systematic positive reinforcement you and your dog have the best of both worlds.
You learn from them and they learn from you to provide a bond which is inseparable.

In the Basic Obedience Course instruction and familiarization will be on:
*  Sit
*  Loose lead walk
*  Sit/Stay
*  Down
*  Down/Stay
*  Stand
*  Come when called
   8 Weeks

AKC’s Canine Good Citizen® (CGC) Program
Ultimately, every dog owner will want to have their dog become a Canine Good Citizen®.  With every group of canines trained, we encourage handlers to strive towards this criteria.  Though not impossible, the tasks involved take time to accomplish.  We can offer this training through private sessions, a one-on-one with handler, canine, and trainer. The puppy kindergarten and the Basic Obedience courses we offer will give you the groundwork to have your dog become a Canine Good Citizen.

The following is criteria for AKC’s Canine Good Citizen® (CGC) Program :

Training/Testing: CGC Test Items

Before taking the Canine Good Citizen test, owners will sign the Responsible Dog Owners Pledge. We believe that responsible dog ownership is a key part of the CGC concept and by signing the pledge, owners agree to take care of their dog's health needs, safety, exercise, training and quality of life. Owners also agree to show responsibility by doing things such as cleaning up after their dogs in public places and never letting dogs infringe on the rights of others.

After signing the Responsible Dog Owners Pledge, owners and their dogs are ready to take the CGC Test. Items on the Canine Good Citizen Test include:

Test 1: Accepting a friendly stranger

Test 2: Sitting politely for petting
Test 3: Appearance and grooming

Test 4: Out for a walk (walking on a loose lead)

Test 5: Walking through a crowd

Test 6: Sit and down on command and staying in place

Test 7: Coming when called

Test 8: Reaction to another dog

Test 9: Reaction to distraction
Test 10: Supervised separation

Wings-And-Warriors, at the very minimum, trains the dog and handler to the above requirements.

Public Access is one of the final stages of training.  Each dog and handler will be evaluated to ensure that dogs who have public access are stable, well-behaved, and unobtrusive to the public.
